Wine Recommendation

This week’s companion to streamed plays and podcasted drama is G.B. Burlotto’s Verduno Pelaverga ’18, which I have pronounced the PERFECT summer red. Dry, light-bodied, and a beautiful ruby color, it’s best served slightly chilled as a sipper or as an accompaniment to a charcuterie platter or grilled meats. My tasting partners and I detected a bit of tart fruit, along with a subtle, green herbaceousness. This is a delightful wine that Chicago’s Perman Wine Selections sells locally for $24 a bottle. You will need to place your order online or by phone and arrange for pickup or delivery, as the shop is still not open to customers. Order at www.permanwine.com or by calling 312.255.8990.

Playtime with Bill Turck and Kerri Kendall can be heard every Sunday from 1-3pm Central time. The show streams live on WCGORadio.com and Facebook. An archive recording is also made available for streaming at any time. In the Chicago area?  Tune in to WCGO at 1590 AM throughout the city and suburbs.  95.9 FM on the Northside.
